He Dr. Ubaldo Mastromatteo graduated in Physics from the University of Rome ("Wisdom") in 1974 After a year of service in the army, worked as a teacher until 1976; in the same year he joined STMicroelectronics, at what time SGS-Ates. In the Cornaredo Research and Development center (Milano) has spent many years working on silicon processes for the production of "Smart Power", integrated electronic devices for applications in dedicated systems in which STM is a world leader.
From the 1998 its main activity was aimed at unconventional technologies for integration in complex microsystems of micromechanics, microfluidics and optical functions. As an example of these systems we can refer to the Lab On Chip for biomedical applications, with non-volatile memories of the "Probe Storage" type, integrated silicon optical waveguides for fiber optic communication systems.
His contribution to the IP portfolio for STMicroelectronics consisted of more than 70 international patents issued; he was co-author of numerous publications in the field of MEMS and semiconductor integration. He was part of the AISEM steering committee (Association
Italian Sensors and Microsystems) and the EUROSENSORS conference. At the University of Milan Bicocca (Medical School) taught "Biosensors and Nanotechnologies" for the degree course in "Medical Biotechnology".
From the 1994 began to pay attention to the so-called “cold fusion” phenomena and from 2010 is working on a project concerning the possibility of using structured nano materials in relatively small systems that exploit LENR (low energy nuclear reactions) for the
production of large quantities of thermal energy. He finished his career at STMicroelectronics as an ST Fellow.
In 2015 together with other researchers he formed a scientific association to continue the research on LENR anomalies started in STMicroelectronics in 1994. The association is called A.R.G.A.L. in which he holds the office of President
